My Story
Gary found User Experience during his doctoral studies at Clemson University in 2010. After graduating in 2013, the first three years of his professional career was spent understanding how to execute UX research methods and processes within industry. During the last 7 years, Gary has been able to lead UX researchers and designers, evaluate and improve UX culture and maturity over the last 5 years, complete 2 end-to-end websites, finish redesigns of 10+ web applications, and mentor/coach UX teams and professionals.

My Credentials
My background is in Human Factors Engineering. I received my PhD in Industrial Engineering with that concentration in December 2013. I took human factors and psychology courses that provided a foundation in User Experience. I also have a BS and MS in Mechanical Engineering which makes me uniquely suited to solve complex technical problems while performing UX principles.
My Volunteer Work
The most rewarding experience as a human being was being a mentor and coach to the high schoolers in this picture and many others after this picture was taken. I coached them in science and engineering to modify and race RC cars for the National Society of Black Engineers. This junior chapter of NSBE won 3 national first place and 1 third place award while I was coach. Most have gone onto college and working in industry. Time flies!!
